Schneller als erwartet ist das alte Leben des Vornutzers auf den Fuchsbau eingekehrt. Bienen! Im Winter wurde ein sogenannter Top Bar Hive selbst gebaut, jetzt im Frühjahr wurde im Imkerparadies beim Opa Max ein Ableger gezogen, der kürzlich sein neues Quartier im Fuchsbau bekommen hat. Spannend wird jetzt, wie sich das neue Bienenvolk an dem Ort einlebt, an dem es schon früher fleißig im Bienenhaus gebrummt hat. Denn das neue Bienenvolk wird wesensnah in einem Wildbausystem leben.

This log (in two sections) was part of a tree felled last year. It had a narrow hollow section caused by rot, so we decided to turn it into a log hive by burning out the centre to a larger diameter, leaving a charred surface and a thick, insulating perimeter.

These are the first bees I've kept. This is my and their first full hive inspection. I caught a swarm into this hive late July last year , as it was so late in the season they only occupied half the bars , so I was a bit worried they wouldn't make it through the winter. But they did !
This is the beginning of the second season with these bees.

Installing a Five-Pound Bee Package in a Top-Bar Hive Seen from Inside the Hive
